Women's Basketball -- St. Benedict 91, Augsburg 49
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (1/12/00) -- Twelve players scored for the College of St. Benedict, led by Laura Wendorff's (Sr., Fulda, Minn.) 23 points, as the Blazers cruised to a 91-49 win over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at St. Benedict's Claire Lynch Hall.
St. Benedict, the defending national runner-up, improves to 8-3 overall and 7-1 in the MIAC. Augsburg drops to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in the MIAC.
In addition to her 23 points, Wendorff led all players with 15 rebounds and added two blocked shots for the Blazers, who outrebounded Augsburg 58-35 and held the Auggies to just 26.2 percent shooting (17-of-65). St. Benedict led 52-26 at halftime.
Michelle Barlau (Fr., Northfield, Minn.) had 18 points, three assists and four steals for the Blazers, while Mia Peterson (So., Swatara, Minn./Northland-Remer HS) had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Molly Mark (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS) had 11 points and three steals.
Rachael Ekholm (So., Richfield, Minn.) was the lone Auggie in double figures, scoring 14 points and hitting four 3-pointers.
Adrienne Tietz (Sr., Shakopee, Minn./Monticello HS) had nine points and four rebounds.
Allison Illa (So., Cannon Falls, Minn.) led the Auggies with seven rebounds.
Augsburg hosts St. Olaf on Saturday (1/15), while St. Benedict plays at Bethel. Both games are at 3 p.m.
