Game Summary:
ST. PETER, Minn. (1/21/00) --
Steve LaMere (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) tied the game with a goal with 21 seconds left in the third period on Friday night, sending the game to overtime and lifting Augsburg College to a 2-2 tie with Gustavus Adolphus College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game at Gustavus' Don Roberts Ice Rink at the Lund Center.
The tie, Augsburg's second in a row, lifts the Auggies to 4-8-4 overall and 2-2-3 in the MIAC. Gustavus is now 5-9-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the MIAC. The two teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/22) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena in Minneapolis.
LaMere's goal came after Augsburg pulled goalie
Ryan McIntosh (Jr., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin HS) with 58 seconds remaining in the third period for an extra skater.
Gustavus opened the scoring on an unassisted shorthanded tally from Brad Hendrickson (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) late in the first period. Augsburg answered on a
Nicholas Murray (So., Bloomington, Minn./Holy Angels HS) unassisted goal midway through the second period. Gustavus took the lead four minutes later on a power-play goal from Josh Kramer (Jr., Moorhead, Minn.), a lead that stood until the final minute of regulation.
