Women's Basketball -- Concordia-Moorhead 73, Augsburg 59
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/22/00) -- Using a 15-5 run in a four-minute span late in the game, the Concordia-Moorhead women's basketball team claimed a 73-59 win over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Concordia's Memorial Auditorium.
Augsburg trailed just 50-49 with 6:01 remaining in the game. But Brandi Myers (Jr., Glyndon, Minn./Dilworth-Glyndon-Feldon HS) scored 10 of her game-high 26 points during the stretch, as the Cobbers outscored the Auggies 23-10 the rest of the way.
Sara Spears (Jr., Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) hit 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch as well, contributing to her 11-point, nine-rebound, seven-assist total in the game.
Kasey Bostow (Fr., Fargo, Minn./South HS) had 14 points and Hilary Schutt (So., Milnor, N.D.) had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Cobbers, now 12-3 overall and 10-2 in the MIAC.
Augsburg, which dropped to 4-11 overall and 4-8 in the MIAC, trailed just 28-26 at halftime and rallied from a nine-point deficit (46-37) with 11:04 left in the second half on a 12-4 run before Concordia pulled away again.
Jodi Soule (Sr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) led the Auggies with 20 points, adding four assists and four steals.
Rachael Ekholm (So., Richfield, Minn.) had 12 points with three 3-pointers, adding four assists and four steals.
Adrienne Tietz (Sr., Shakopee, Minn./Monticello HS) had eight points, eight rebounds and five steals.
Allison Illa (So., Cannon Falls, Minn.) scored eight points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Augsburg plays at Gustavus on Wednesday (1/26) at 7:30 p.m., while Concordia plays at Carleton Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
