Game Summary:
MINNEAPOLIS (1/29/00) -- Kristin Lundeen (Fr., Becker, Minn.) led all scorers with 26 points, hitting six 3-pointers on Saturday, leading Bethel College to a 79-67 win over host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.
With the win, Bethel improves to 4-12 overall and 3-11 in the MIAC. Augsburg drops to 4-13 overall and 4-10 in the MIAC, losing its fifth game in a row.
Bethel used a 13-2 run the final seven minutes of the first half to take a 40-31 lead into halftime. The Royals led by as many as 17 points in the second half.
Laura Jacobs (So., Wells, Minn./United South Central HS) had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Royals, while Cara Battles (So., McGregor, Minn.) had 14 points and K.C. Slusher (So., Edgweood, N.M./Moriarty HS) had 10 points and five assists.
Bethel limited Augsburg to just 32 percent shooting (24-of-75) from the field, incluidng 24.2 percent (8-of-33) from the three-point line. Meanwhile, the Royals hit 54.2 percent (26-of-48) from the field, including 60 percent (9-of-15) of its three-point shots.
Augsburg was paced by
Rachael Ekholm (So., Richfield, Minn.), who hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points.
Jodi Soule (Sr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) had 15 points and six rebounds and
Erin Brockberg (Jr., Pipestone, Minn./Pipestone-Jasper HS) had 14 points, five steals and four assists.
Allison Illa (So., Cannon Falls, Minn.) had 10 points, and
Jaime Kingsley (Jr., Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) had 11 rebounds, scoring eight points.
Augsburg hosts St. Thomas on Wednesday (2/2), while Bethel hosts Gustavus. Both games are at 7:30 p.m.
