Game Summary:
DE PERE, Wis. (1/8/00) -- Adam Sedgwick (Jr., Vancouver, B.C.) scored two goals Saturday night to lead St. Norbert College past Augsburg College 4-2 in a nonconference men's hockey game at the De Pere Ice Center.
With the win, St. Norbert, of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, improves to 13-3-1 overall. Augsburg, of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, drops to 4-7-2 overall. Augsburg finished its stretch of "crossover" games against NCHA opponents with a 2-4-1 record.
St. Norbert built a 3-0 lead on the Auggies before Augsburg rallied to cut the lead to 3-2. But Sedgwick added his second goal of the game at the 3:51 mark of the third period, and Augsburg could not answer the rest of the way.
Shane Dickson (Jr., Stony Plain, Alberta) had a goal and two assists for the Green Knights, while Ryan Wempe (So., Fulda, Sask.) had the other SNC goal.
Augsburg scored twice in a four-minute span of the second period on goals from
Mike Jackson (Jr., Ramsey, Minn./Elk River HS) and
Brad Schwartzbauer (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.).
Ryan McIntosh (Jr., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin HS) made 24 saves in a losing effort for the Auggies. Mike Szkodzinski (Sr., Brighton, Mich.) made 21 saves to pick up the win.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play with a two-game series against St. John's University Jan. 14-15. Friday's game is at 7:05 at the Augsburg Ice Arena, while Saturday's game is at 2 p.m. at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. St. Norbert returns to action Jan. 21 with a 7 p.m. home game against Wisconsin-Stout.
