MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/18/00) -- Concordia-Moorhead scored twice in a 22-second span in the second half, the only goals it would ned in a 2-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer victory over visiting Augsburg College on Wednesday afternoon at Concordia.
Concordia improves to 7-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the MIAC with the win, while Augsburg drops to 4-11 overall and 1-7 in the MIAC.
Jason Van Valkenburg (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) scored on a cross from Paul Poduska (Jr., Fort Collins, Colo.) at the 59:53 mark, and 22 second s later, Chance Buzzell (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) scored his fifth goal of the season to clinch the win.
The loss, Augsburg's eighth in the last nine games, was the its eight by shutout this season. Concordia outshot Augsburg by a 23-8 margin. Gustavo Quntiliano (Sr., Brasilia, Brazil) made 12 saves in the loss for the Auggies.
Augsburg hosts Wisconsin-Superior Sunday (10/22) at 3:30 p.m. at Anderson-Nelson Field. Concordia plays two games in California this weekend, travleing to Whittier College on Friday (10/20) at 4 p.m. and California Lutheran on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
