Volleyball 10/21/00 -- Augsburg at Wartburg (Iowa) Triangular
WAVERLY, Iowa (10/21/00) -- Augsburg College split its two matches in competition at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Triangular meet on Saturday afternoon. The Auggies topped NAIA school Marycrest (Iowa) 15-2, 15-10, 15-6, and lost to host Wartburg, the No. 18-ranked team in the AVCA Division III national poll, 15-3, 15-7, 15-2.
With the split, Augsburg moves to 8-15 overall.
Cassi Van Ausdall (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.),
Angie Rieger (Sr., Courtland, Minn./New Ulm Public HS) and
Kevina Nakiwala (So., Kampala, Uganda/Ashby, Minn., HS) recorded 15 kills apiece in the two matches. Van Ausdall led the Auggies with 10 kills against Wartburg. Rieger and Nakiwala had 12 and 11 kills, respectively, against Marycrest.
Emily Walen (Sr., Stillwater, Minn./Hastings HS) had 52 assists in the two matches, 31 in the win over Marycrest and 21 against Wartburg.
Lisa Miller (So., Buffalo, Minn.) led the Auggies with four blocks (two solo).
The Auggies used 11 players against Marycrest in the easy victory, their sixth match sweep of the season.
Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play hosting Hamline University on Wednesday night (10/25) at 7:30 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
