MINNEAPOLIS (10/22/00) --
Brenda Selander * (Sr., Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) and
Heidi Hilleren (Fr., Duluth, Minn./East HS) notched scoring tallies for Augsburg College, the only goals the Auggies would need in a 2-0 shutout of Wisconsin-Superior in a nonconference women's soccer game Sunday afternoon at Augsburg's Anderson-Nelson Field.
Augsburg improves to 7-9 with the win, breaking a three-game losing streak. Wisconsin-Superior drops to 0-14 overall.
Selander's goal, the senior's fourth of the year, came on an assist from
Melissa Peterka (Fr., Minnetonka, Minn.) in the 60th minute. Hilleren's goal, her team-high sixth of the season, followed three minutes later.
Augsburg outshot Wisconsin-Superior by a 31-3 margin in the game.
Katie Cheese (Jr., Shakopee, Minn.) and
Kristen Opalinski (So., Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe HS) combined for the victory in goal. Cheese made three saves.
Kristi Wilke (Sr., Wausau, Wis.) made 14 saves for the Yellowjackets. Lori Hanrehan (Jr., New Holland, Mich.) made all three shots for Wisconsin-Superior.
Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action with a game Wednesday (10/25) at 3 p.m. at St. Mary's University in Winona, Minn.
