Volleyball 10/27/00 -- Augsburg 3, Northwestern-Roseville 2

MINNEAPOLIS (10/27/00) -- Cassi Van Ausdall (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) had a season-high 22 kills and 19 digs to lead Augsburg College to a regular season-ending five-game match victory over Northwestern College-Roseville in a nonconference volleyball match Friday night at Si Melby Hall.

Game scores were 15-8, 15-8, 12-15, 3-15, 15-9 in favor of Augsburg, which closes the regular season with a 10-15 overall record. Augsburg has won six of its last eight matches to close the regular season and is 3-3 in five-game matches this season. Northwestern-Roseville drops to 18-13 overall.

Van Ausdall's double-double (kills and digs) was her 14th of the season and the second time she has had 20 or more kills in a single match this year.

Lisa Miller (So., Buffalo, Minn.) recorded a career-high 15 kills to go with four blocks (three solo) for the Auggies. Kevina Nakiwala (So., Kampala, Uganda/Ashby, Minn., HS) also notched a double-double, with 13 kills and 19 digs. She led the team with three service aces.

Angie Rieger (Sr., Courtland, Minn./New Ulm Public HS) notched 12 kills with 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the year. She added six blocks (one solo). Paula Pogatchnik (So., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) had seven kills and a team-high six blocks (two solo). Emily Walen (Sr., Stillwater, Minn./Hastings HS) had 60 assists.

Emily Buchner (So., Bloomer, Wis.) led the Eagles with 22 kills, while Holly Michaelson-Stanke (Sr., Eldora, Iowa) had 13 kills and two service aces and Anna Anderson (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) had 12 kills and two service aces.

Augsburg competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason tournament next Friday and Saturday (11/3-4) at St. Mary's University in Winona, Minn. Northwestern plays at Wisconsin-Superior Saturday (10/28) at 2 p.m.
