Men's Hockey 11/18/00 -- Augsburg 6, St. Scholastica (Minn.) 2
DULUTH, Minn. (11/18/00) --
Jake Wegscheider (Jr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville Area HS) scored two goals and added an assist to lead Augsburg College to a 6-2 victory over the College of St. Scholastica in a nonconference men's hockey game Saturday night at CSC's Mars Lakeview Arena.
Augsburg broke a four-game losing streak with the win, improving to 2-4 overall. St. Scholastica drops to 2-3 overall.
The Auggies jumped out to a 4-0 second-period lead en route to a dominating offensive performance. The Auggies outshot St. Scholastica by a 36-19 margin in the game.
Mike Jackson (Sr., Ramsey, Minn. /Elk River HS) had a goal and two assists,
Nick Murray (Jr., Bloomington, Minn./Holy Angels HS) had a goal and an assist, and
Brad Schwartzbauer (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) had two assists.
Tim Olsen (Fr., Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and
Tony Putt (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) had the other Auggie goals.
Ryan McIntosh (Sr., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin HS) made 17 saves to claim the victory. Jason Nordby (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn.) made 30 saves in a losing effort.
Kyle Anttila (Jr., Aurora, Minn.) and Derek Yirkovsky (So., Mosinee, Wis.) had St. Scholastica's goals.
Augsburg has a two-game Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series with St. John's University Dec. 1-2, with the Dec. 1 game at Augsburg Ice Arena at 7 p.m. St. Scholastica hosts Lawrence University in a two-game series Friday and Saturday (11/24-25). Both games are at 7:30 p.m.
