ST. PAUL, Minn. (11/18/00) -- Jacquelle Sevigny (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) scored her second straight shutout, making 32 saves, and Katie Eichten (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) scored two goals as the College of St. Catherine completed a sweep of Augsburg College with a 3-0 triumph in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game Saturday night at the Drake Ice Arena.
With the win, St. Catherine improves to 3-0 overall, while Augsburg drops to 0-3 overall. The series sweep by the Wildcats was the first time an conference opponent has swept Augsburg in the three seasons of MIAC competition. Combined with Friday night's 3-0 win and an earlier 9-0 win over Wisconsin-Eau Claire, St. Catherine has yet to give up a goal this season, while scoring 15.
Eichten notched her first goal at the 1:20 mark of the second period on an assist from Debbie McLoughlin (So., Johannesburg, South Africa), which stood as the only tally until midway through the final stanza, when the Wildcats scored twice in a 12-second span. Courtney Adney (So., St. Paul, Minn.) scored on an assist from Heather Tudahl (So., Rochester, Minn.) at the 9:27 mark, and Eichten capped the scoring at 9:39 from Jill Ament (Fr., Jamestown, N.D.).
Sevigny made the lead hold up, making 32 saves as Augsburg outshot St. Catherine by a 32-31 margin.
Katie Fedoryk (Fr., Austin, Minn.) made her collegiate debut in goal for the Auggies and made 28 saves.
Augsburg hosts Sacred Heart University (Conn.) in a nonconference game on Tuesday (11/21) at 8:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena. St. Catherine returns to action with a two-game MIAC series at Gustavus Adolphus College Dec. 1-2.
