WINONA, Minn. (12/10/00) -- Tennie McCabe (Fr., Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) scored twice and added an assist as the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team completed a key MIAC sweep of Augsburg College with a 4-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win at the SMU Ice Arena Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who beat the Auggies 7-2 on Saturday, scored three first-period goals -- the first two by McCabe, who now has a team-leading 15 in SMU's first 11 games -- and the third by Mo Hayes (Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn./Park H).
Augsburg cut the lead to 3-1 with their lone goal at the 11:58 mark on a shot by
Annie Mattison (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska/East HS), but SMU regained its three-goal cushion when Andrea Kemp (Fr., Hastings, Minn.) netted her first collegiate goal at the 15:48 mark.
The Cardinals held a 33-21 edge in shots on goal, with SMU goalie Missie Meemken (So., St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS) stopping 20 shots en route to her fifth win of the season.
Katie Fedoryk (Fr., Austin, Minn.) took the loss, making 29 saves.
The Cardinals, who swept the Auggies for the first time ever, are now off until Jan. 6, when they travel to Gustavus for a 2 p.m. conference game. Augsburg returns to action on Jan. 4, hosting St. Olaf College at 7:05 p.m.
