ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/5/00) --
Jodi Soule (Sr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) scored 27 points, hitting 12-of-15 from the free-throw line, leading Augsburg College to an 83-74 victory over the College of St. Catherine in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Butler Center.
With the win, Augsburg improves to 5-14 overall and 5-11 in the MIAC, while St. Catherine drops to 3-15 overall and 1-14 in the MIAC.
Liz Meskan (Jr., New Prague, Minn.) added 17 points and five rebounds for the Auggies, who broke a six-game losing streak in the process.
Jaime Kingsley (Jr., Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) had 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds, and
Jennie LaManna (So., South St. Paul, Minn.) scored a career-high 10 points, pulling down six rebounds.
For St. Catherine, Teresa LeMire (Sr., South St. Paul, Minn.) led all scorers with 31 points, hitting 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Jeanna Spannring (Sr., Livingston, Mont.) had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Sarah Lefor (Fr., Roseau, Minn.) had 12 rebounds.
Free throws were the order of the day, as the teams combined for 76 free-throw attempts -- Augsburg hit 25-of-40 free throws and St. Catherine hit 24-of-36 free throws. Augsburg committed 26 fouls, compared to 30 fouls for St. Catherine.
Augsburg plays at Macalester on Wednesday (2/9), while St. Catherine hosts St. Benedict. Both games are at 7:30 p.m.
