Game Summary:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/6/00) --
Mike Jackson (Jr., Ramsey, Minn./Elk River HS) and
Brad Holzinger (Fr., North Oaks, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) had two goals apiece, leading Augsburg College to a 6-2 win over Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game Sunday afternoon at the State Fair Coliseum.
With a split of the series, Augsburg improved to 7-10-4 overall and 5-4-3 in the MIAC. Hamline dropped to 5-14-2 overall and 1-10-1 in the MIAC.
Augsburg led 3-2 after two periods, with two goals coming from Jackson. He added an assist for a three-point game. The Auggies turned the game into a rout in the third period, scoring three goals, including consecutive goals by Holzinger.
Brad Schwartzbauer (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.) and
Joe Johnson (So., Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) added the other goals for the Auggies. Schwartzbauer added an assist for a two-point day.
Roland Blumer (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska/Robert Service HS) and
Steve LaMere (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) had two assists apiece.
Blade Metzer (Fr., Coleraine, Minn.) and Donovan Meade (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) scored goals for the Pipers.
Augsburg outshot Hamline by a 37-19 margin.
Ryan McIntosh (Jr., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin HS) made 17 saves to pick up the win, while Brian Maxwell (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) stopped 31 shots in a losing effort.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play with a series against St. Mary's Friday and Saturday (2/11-12, Friday at St. Mary's at 7:05 p.m., Saturday at Augsburg Ice Arena at 7:05 p.m.). Hamline takes on St. John's in a two-game series, Friday's game at the Coliseum at 7 p.m., Saturday's game at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud at 7 p.m.
