Women's Basketball -- Macalester 75, Augsburg 66
ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/9/00) -- Kate Stebbins (Sr., North Bend, Ore.) led five Macalester players in double figures with 16 points Wednesday, as host Macalester College pulled away in the second half to claim a 75-66 win over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game at Macalester Gymnasium.
Macalester improved to 3-16 overall and 3-14 in the MIAC with the win, while Augsburg dropped to 5-15 overall and 5-12 in the MIAC.
Stebbins led the Scots with seven rebounds and added two blocked shots, as the Scots pulled away from the Auggies after leading just 34-30 at halftime.
Nora Anderson (Sr., Bloomington, Minn./Blake School) had 13 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Scots, while Kelly McAnnany (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./Blake School) had 13 poitns, three assists and five steals.
Allison Bell-Bern (So., Madison, Wis./East HS) came off the bench to score 12 points, and Karen Martin (Sr., Westford, Mass./Acton-Boxborough HS) had 10 points and two steals.
For Augsburg,
Allison Illa (So., Cannon Falls, Minn.) scored a career-high 16 points to pace the Auggies.
Jodi Soule (Sr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) had 14 points and three assists.
Jaime Kingsley (Jr., Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) had 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals, and
Erin Brockberg (Jr., Pipestone, Minn./Pipestone-Jasper HS) contributed 10 points, five steals and five assists.
Augsburg hosts St. Benedict on Saturday (2/12), while Macalester hosts Gustavus. Both games are at 3 p.m.
