Men's Soccer 9/20/00 -- Bethel 5, Augsburg 0
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (9/20/00) -- Pete Ahlquist (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) and Andy Frye (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) scored two goals apiece in the first half, leading host Bethel College to a 5-0 victory over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer game Wednesday afternoon.
Bethel improves to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC, while Augsburg drops to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the MIAC.
Ahlquist opened the scoring for the Royals at the 20-minute mark on an unassisted tally. Four minutes later, Bethel scoredd two goals in a 40-second span, from Frye and Rob Caverly (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.), both on assists from Matt Sivess (Jr., Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe HS). Ahlquist and Frye scored again in a 1:10 span late in the first half.
Augsburg was limited to three shots in the contest, as Bethel outshot the Royals 14-3 and had 10 corner kicks to the Auggies' one.
The Auggies host Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. Note the time and site change from previously published schedules. Bethel travels to Wheaton College (Ill.) Saturday at 7 p.m.
