Men's Soccer 10/25/01 -- Augsburg 2, St. Olaf 1
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/25/01) --
Matt Lachner (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) and
Steve Gehrman (So., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) scored first-half goals for Augsburg College, enough to hold on for a 2-1 win over host St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer game on Thursday afternoon.
Despite being outshot 15-8, Augsburg managed two goals in a 16-minute period in the first half to improve to 5-7-1 overall, 2-6 in the MIAC. It was Augsburg's second win in a row and third in its last four games. St. Olaf dropped to 5-10-1 overall and 3-4-1 in MIAC play.
Ben Clymer (Jr., Hudson, Wis.) had the lone goal for the Oles late in the game.
Nick Shill (So., Eau Claire, Wis./North HS) and
Lucas Grant (Fr., Starbuck, Minn./Minnewaska Area HS) combined for the win in goal for the Auggies.
Augsburg returns to MIAC action on Saturday (10/27) with a home game against St. John's. Game time has been moved up an hour to 6 p.m. St. Olaf returns to action on Wednesday (10/31) with a 2:30 p.m. game at St. Mary's.
