OSHKOSH, Wis. (10/13/01) -- Amy Degner (Fr., Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins HS) earned All-Tournament Team honors in leading Augsburg College to a 3-1, second-place finish at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational volleyball tournament at the Kolf Sports Center on Friday and Saturday.

Degner accumulated 151 assists (11.62 per game) on the weekend, with seven blocks (2 solo) and 33 digs, as the Auggies finished their season with a 12-18 overall record, a one-match improvement in wins from last season's 11-16 finish.

On Friday, Augsburg lost the opening match of the tournament to host Wisconsin-Oshkosh, ranked No. 5 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III national rankings, 30-22, 30-18, 30-18. The Auggies closed the day with a four-game win over Ripon (Wis.) College, 30-22, 30-27, 18-30, 30-21. On Saturday, Augsburg won both its matches, a three-game sweep of Finlandia University (Mich.), 30-19, 30-14, 30-23; and a five-game win over Marian College (Wis.), 30-24, 32-34, 27-30, 30-27, 15-12.

Degner accumulated 22 assists in the loss to Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 49 in the win over Ripon, 15 against Finlandia and a season-high 65 win in the marathon win over Marian, avenging an earlier four-game loss to Marian in the Wisconsin-River Falls tournament on Sept. 1. Degner's 880 assists this season (8.71 per game) is the seventh-best single-season total in school history (accurate records kept since 1987).

Laura Wagner (Fr., West Bend, Wis./West Bend West HS) completed her astounding first season as an Auggie with 84 kills, 43 digs and five blocks (one solo) in the four matches, averaging 6.46 kills per game with a strong .319 attack percentage (84 kills, 25 errors in 185 chances). She had 15 kills against Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 23 kills and nine digs against Ripon, 11 kills and 10 digs against Finlandia and a season-high 35 kills and a season-high 19 digs against Marian.

Wagner ended the season with eight kill-dig "double-doubles," and had double-digit totals in kills in 21 of her 30 matches. She ended the season with 392 kills (3.81 per game) and a .258 attack percentage, just the seventh 300-plus kill total since 1987 and bettering the previous school single-season record (since 1987) of 365, set by Carolyn Tuhoy in 1994. Wagner ended the year with a team-high 278 digs and 49 blocks (eight solo).

Lisa Miller (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) led the Auggies with 14 blocks (one solo) in the four matches, adding 25 kills and 11 digs. She had six blocks against Ripon and five against Marian. Miller's season block total of 95 (13 solo) is the second-most in a single season in school history; the record (since 1987) of 104 was set by Jodi Notebaart in 1996.

Denise Foster (Jr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had 28 kills and 14 digs on the weekend, Kristy Larson (Fr., Pine Island, Minn.) had 22 kills and four blocks, and Paula Pogatchnik (Jr., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) had 20 kills, five blocks and a team-high seven service aces. Kelly Larvick (Jr., Good Thunder, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS) contributed 15 kills and eight blocks (one solo).

As a team, Augsburg hit well on the weekend, connecting on a .234 attack percentage (209 kills, 79 errors in 556 chances).
