ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (10/27/01) -- Blitzing the visitors from Augsburg College with a 46-2 shot advantage, the College of St. Benedict claimed a 4-0 win in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer contest Saturday afternoon.

In moving to 11-5 overall and 6-4 in the MIAC, St. Benedict dominated play throughout the contest. Augsburg, playing its final game of the season, finished at 7-9-1 overall and 4-6-1 in conference play. The seven wins matches last season's victory total for the Auggies (7-10-1), with a two-game improvement in conference play (2-7-1 last season).

Laura Hoffman (So., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) made 14 saves in goal for the Auggies.

Megan McVoy (Fr., Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy) opened the scoring off a cross from Krista Beggin (Sr., Arden Hills, Minn./Irondale HS) three minutes into the game. Kelly Midbrod (So., Stillwater, Minn.) scored on a shot from Beggin 44 seconds into the second half, with Meghann Green (Fr., Edina, Minn.) adding an unassisted blast in the 81st minute and Amy Jo Boushek (Sr., Ramsey, MN/Anoka HS) scoring on a cross from Emily Kelsey (Jr., Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) in the 96th minute.

St. Benedict closes its season with a rescheduled game against Concordia-Moorhead on Sunday (10/28) at 1 p.m. in Moorhead, Minn.
