ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (10/3/01) -- Libby Homan had 19 kills and six digs, and Alicia Pohlmann contributed 10 kills and 14 digs in leading the host College of St. Benedict to a three-game sweep of Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match Wednesday night.

St. Benedict dominated the offense in the three games, winning 30-27, 30-25, 30-25. The Blazers, in improving to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC, hit a strong .344 (61 kills, 16 errors in 131 attempts), while limiting Augsburg to just 36 kills in the match.

Augsburg dropped to 6-11 overall and 3-3 in the MIAC with the loss.

Ellen Link contributed 13 kills for the Blazers, while Erin Heger had 47 assists. The Blazers also benefitted from 13 service aces, including four from Pohlmann and three from Joquel Rudningen.

Augsburg was paced by Laura Wagner (Fr., West Bend, Wis./West Bend West HS), who had 13 kills and seven digs. Kristy Larson (Fr., Pine Island, Minn.) had eight kills and two blocks, Denise Foster (Jr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had six kills, nine digs and two blocks, and Lisa Miller (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) contributed five kills and a team-high four blocks.

Kelly Larvick (Jr., Good Thunder, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS) added three blocks for the Auggies, and Amy Degner (Fr., Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins HS) had 32 assists.

Both teams return to action on Friday night (10/5) at 7:30 p.m. in conference play, Augsburg playing at St. Catherine and St. Benedict hosting Carleton.
