RIVER FALLS, Wis. (11/10/01) --
Kristi Brusletto (Sr., Basalt, Colo.) scored an unassisted goal with 30 seconds to play Saturday afternoon to give Augsburg College a 4-3 victory over the host University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a nonconference women's hockey game at Hunt Arena.
Augsburg, now 1-3 overall, held a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by
Annie Mattison (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska/East HS) and
Corrie Krzyska (Fr., Fridley, Minn.). In the second period, UWRF got to within 2-1 when Jodi Hensch scored a power-play goal at 6:15. Augsburg took back the two-goal lead when Mattison scored at 9:09. At 15:13, the Falcons got back to within one when Elisha Best scored. The Falcons tied the game 3-3 at 10:20 of the final period, when Best got the goal. That set up Brusletto's game-winning goal.
UWRF goalie Jill Janikowski made 18 saves while Augsburg's
Katie Fedoryk (Fr., Austin, Minn.) stopped 29 shots. Augsburg was outshot for the fourth game in a row, this time 32-22.
Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next weekend with a two-game series against the College of St. Benedict. Friday's (11/16) game is at the River-Lakes Ice Arena in Richmond, Minn., at 7:35 p.m. Saturday's (11/17) game is at the Augsburg Ice Arena at 7:05 p.m. River Falls, now 1-2-1 overall, next plays on Nov. 20 when it hosts the College of St. Catherine at Hunt Arena. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
