BOXSCORE

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (11/11/01) -- Freshman Brady Lundblad and sophomore Max Bahr scored third-period goals to help the St. John's University hockey team overcome a one-goal deficit and pick up its first victory, 3-2 over visiting Augsburg College on Sunday afternoon at National Hockey Center.

The Johnnies (1-3 MIAC, 1-3 overall) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a first-period goal by senior Chad Helmer, but the Auggies (1-1 MIAC, 2-1-1 overall) grabbed back the momentum on two unanswered goals by junior Jaro Cesky (Jr., Prague, Czech Republic) -- the second of which came just 46 seconds into the third period.

"They got an early one in the third, but our guys hung in there," St. John's coach John Harrington said. "That's what we've been talking about - hanging in the game no matter what happens."

Sophomore goaltender Rick Gregory made 29 saves to pick up the win in the net. Pete Samargia (Jr., Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) -- a transfer from the University of Minnesota -- had 22 saves for Augsburg.

Augsburg hosts Minnesota-Crookston in a nonconference series Friday (11/16) at 7 p.m. and Saturday (11/17) at 2 p.m. at Augsburg Ice Arena. St. John's hosts Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday at 7 p.m. and Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday at 7 p.m., both at the National Hockey Center.
