ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/18/02) -- Troy Kleven (Jr., Crookston, Minn.) had a three-goal hat trick, including two third-period goals to secure a tie, as he led Hamline University to a 4-4 overtime tie with Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game Friday night at the State Fair Coliseum.

Kleven's goal with 1:01 left in regulation time tied the game at 4-4 and forced overtime. Augsburg outshot Hamline 5-0 in the extra session, but could not put a shot past Hamline goalie Robert Fuchs (Jr., Richmond, B.C.). Fuchs made 33 saves on the night, as Augsburg outshot Hamline by a 37-22 margin. Auggie goalie Peter Samargia (Jr., Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) made 18 saves.

Augsburg moved to 6-7-3 overall and 2-4-1 in MIAC play with the draw, while Hamline moved to 6-11-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the MIAC.

Kleven opened the game with a goal from B.J. Anderson (Sr., Alexandria, Minn.), who had a four-point night with a goal and three assists. Kleven's second goal of the game, a power-play tally at the 4:52 mark of the third period, tied the game at 3-3, and after Augsburg's Nick Murray (Sr., Bloomington, Minn./Holy Angels HS) tied the game for the Auggies at the 17:22 mark of the period, Kleven forced the draw with a goal 1:37 later.

Jake Wegscheider (Jr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had a three-point night for the Auggies, wtih two goals and an assist. His power-play goal in the second period put the Auggies ahead 3-2. Joe Johnson (Sr., Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) had the other Auggie goal, and Brad Bjorgum (So., Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS), Brad Holzinger (Jr., North Oaks, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) and Murray also had assists.

Brice Parks (Jr., Eagle River, Alaska) had two assists for the Pipers, while Kris Cabak (So., Elko, Minn.) and Brendan Roche (So., Hanover, Md.) also added helpers.

The teams complete their MIAC series with a game Saturday (1/19) at 7 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
