ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/28/02) -- Afton Hanson (So., Karlstad, Minn./Tri-County HS) had 22 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals to lead Macalester College (4-15, 3-13 MIAC) past Augsburg College 59-55 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Monday night (Jan. 28) in St. Paul.

Hanson made 4-of-7 from three-point range and went 8-for-10 from the free throw line. Emily Koller (Jr., Greybull, Wyo.) added 11 points and eight boards for the Scots.

Carrie Schwartz * (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Augsburg (6-13, 5-11 MIAC), while Shannon Spears (Jr., Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had 10 points and seven boards. Augsburg out-rebounded the Scots 53-37 but shot just 31 percent from the field.

Both teams return to MIAC action on Wednesday (1/30) at 7:30 p.m., Augsburg hosting St. Mary's and Macalester playing at St. Olaf.
