Brusletto scores twice, Augsburg tops Hamline 4-1!

ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/31/02) -- Kristi Brusletto (Sr., Basalt, Colo.) scored two goals to lead visiting Augsburg College to a 3-1 victory over Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game Thursday night at the State Fair Coliseum.

Brusletto's goals, her fourth and fifth of the season, helped the Auggies snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 6-11-2 overall, 5-7-1 in the MIAC. Augsburg has won four of its last six games. Hamline drops to 2-18 and 1-13 in the MIAC. Hamline has lost its last 15 games in a row.

Laura McGowan (Sr., Fridley, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS) scored an unassisted goal late in the first period for the Auggies. Lauren Chezick (Fr., Hastings, Minn.) and Dottie Gilkerson (So., Somerset, Wis.) had assists for the Auggies, who outshot Hamline by a 31-26 margin.

Katie Fedoryk (So., Austin, Minn.) picked up the win in goal for the Auggies, making 25 saves. Emily Krinhop (So., Eagan, Minn.) took the loss with 28 saves.

Hamline's lone goal came on the power play, from Emily Gross (Fr., West St. Paul, Minn.), on an assist from Mandy Selden (So., Mahtomedi, Minn.).

The teams conclude their MIAC series on Saturday (2/2) at 2:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
