ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/6/02) -- The University of St. Thomas men's soccer team scored a 3-0 win over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer match on a cold, rainy, sloppy Sunday on the Tommies' campus.

Matt Raplinger's goal in the 30th minute propelled the Toms to a 1-0 halftime lead. The Tommies added two second-half goals -- Guillermo Quintero scored (assisted by Zach Burns) in the 57th minute, and Adam Harding (assisted by Andy Kaasa) in the 75th minute.

UST senior Will Loepfe was in goal for the first 78 minutes to pick up the win. UST outshot the Auggies 15-5, including a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Chad Clausen (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS) was in goal all 90 minutes for the Auggies (3-6-2, 1-3-1).

The Tommies (5-2-2 overall, 2-1-1 MIAC), who have outscored foes 17-3 this season, play at MIAC leader Gustavus Wednesday (4 p.m.), and host Northwestern Thursday (4 p.m.). Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (10/12) with a 1 p.m. game at Carleton.
