COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (11/2/02) -- Andy Witchger (So., Edina, Minn.) scored the first two goals of the game, as the St. John's University men's soccer team claimed a 4-0 win over Augsburg College 4-0 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest Saturday afternoon at St. John's.

Witchger scored in the 24th minute and in the 56th minute, lifting St. John's to 11-4-2 overall and 5-2-2 in MIAC play, with one game remaining at Concordia-Moorhead next Saturday (11/9). Augsburg ends its season at 4-11-2 overall and 1-8-1 in MIAC play, dropping its sixth game in its last seven tries and eighth in its last 10.

Witchger's second goal was the first in a 2:10 span, as Brian Cleaveland (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) scored from Ben Bahr (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) in the 58th minute. Bahr closed the scoring with a goal in the 86th minute.

St. John's outshot Augsburg by a 20-6 margin, including a 14-2 edge in the second half. Augsburg goalkeeper Han Zeller (Jr., Winona, Minn.) made six saves. Eric Prawalsky (So., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) had to make just one save in 76 minutes of work to claim the win.
