BOXSCORE

MINNEAPOLIS (12/11/02) -- In a game that produced hat tricks for both teams, Augsburg College's Genevieve Allegrezza (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska/Service HS) tied a single-game school record with four goals, leading the Auggies to a 6-3 win over Bethel College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game Wednesday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

In lifting Augsburg to 4-7-0 overall and 4-3-0 in MIAC play, Allegrezza tied a record set twice before in Augsburg's eight seasons of women's hockey, four-goal efforts by Angie Rieger in a 1999 game and Stephanie Johnson in a 2001 game. A transfer from Manhattanville (N.Y.), Allegrezza now has five goals in her first Augsburg season.

Alyson Sundberg (Sr., St. Paul, Minn./Roseville HS) had a hat trick with three goals for Bethel, now 1-7-0 overall and 1-6-0 in MIAC play.

Allegrezza got her hat trick in the first two periods, scoring the first two goals of the game on assists from Hannah Dietrich (So., Luverne, Minn.) in the first period, and adding her third on a feed from Annie Annunziato (Jr., Commack, N.Y.), also a transfer from Manhattanville. Annunziato and Carrie Velenchenko (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) had three assists apiece for the Auggies, with Melynda Kleewein (So., Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond HS) adding an assist.

Allegrezza finished her scoring on a rebound, power-play goak with 1:52 remaining in the third period.

Sundberg scored her first two goals in a 2:39 span early in the second period, both on the power play. She deposited her third goal at the 7:18 mark of the third period to give her a team-high seven goals this season. Kim Framsted (Sr., Rochester, Minn./Victory Christian Academy) and Elicia Shepard (Fr., Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) had assists for the Royals.

Augsburg's Lauren Chezick (So., Hastings, Minn.) also had a solid scoring night, with two goals to tie her with Annunziato for the team's high with nine goals this season.

Augsburg outshot Bethel by a 33-21 margin. Kristin Johnson (So., Minnetonka, Minn./Wayzata HS) made 18 saves to pick up the win for the Auggies, with Kelly Fillmore (So., Columbia Heights, Minn.) making 27 saves for the Royals.

The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (12/14) at 7 p.m. at Bethel's home rink, the Columbia Ice Arena in Fridley, Minn.
