ROSEVILLE, Minn. (8/31/02) -- Emily Buchner had 18 kills and Melanie Huisinga had 14 kills, leading Northwestern College-Roseville to a three-game sweep of Augsburg College in a nonconference women's volleyball match on Saturday night at Northwestern. Game scores were 30-18, 30-20, 30-20 in favor of Northwestern in the first match of the season for both teams.
Buchner added nine digs and seven blocks (three solo), while Huisinga had 11 digs and two blocks. Northwestern scored a .351 attack percentage, while Augsburg committed 19 errors en route to a .042 attack percentage.
Christine Engel had 47 assists, nine digs and four blocks, while Erika Hudson had 17 digs and Mary Krauel had 13 digs.
Augsburg was paced by
Paula Pogatchnik (Sr., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS), who had eight kills and six digs.
Anna Piermantier (Jr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) had 12 assists and seven digs, and
Denise Foster (Sr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had eight digs and four kills.
