MINNEAPOLIS (9/3/02) -- Mike Elcano (So., Sparks, Nev./Bishop Manogue HS) scored two goals, as Augsburg College claimed a 3-1 win over host Northwestern College-Roseville in a nonconference men's soccer game Tuesday afternoon at Reynolds Field.

Aaron Reidel (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half for the Auggies, who moved to 1-2 on the season. Northwestern is now 1-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, Augsburg's Elcano scored his first goal five mintues into the second half, on feeds from Riedel and Hans Strommen (Jr., North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View HS). Northwestern tied the game in the 63rd minute, when Emil Furcht scored on a feed from Trevor Perkins.

Augsburg took the lead back on Riedel's first collegiate goal in the 80th minute, and Elcano scored his second goal of the game in the 88th minute. Both Auggie goals came on feeds from Hugo Quintiliano (Sr., Brasilia, Brazil/Mound-Westonka, Minn., HS)

Augsburg outshot Northwestern by a 23-19 margin, including a 14-12 advantage in the second half. Chad Clausen (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS) picked up his first collegiate win in goal for the Auggies, making seven saves in 87 minutes of work. Han Zeller (Jr., Winona, Minn.) finished the game, making one save. James Elsen played the first half in goal for Northwestern, with Mike Perkins playing the second half. Both had three saves each.

Augsburg returns to action on Sunday (9/8) at 11 a.m., playing at Edgewood (Wis.) in a nonconference match in Madison Wis.
