ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (10/22/03) -- Kristin Stoneberg had 13 kills and 11 digs, leading Bethel College to a three-game sweep of Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match on Wednesday night at Bethel's Robertson Center. Game scores were 30-26, 30-25, 30-13.

Stoneberg hit .520, without an error in 25 attempts, to lead Bethel, now 13-14 overall and 7-3 in MIAC play. Augsburg drops to 3-19 overall, 1-9 in the MIAC.

Meanwhile, Bethel's Marin Rosenvold hit .438, with eight kills and one error in 16 attempts, and added two blocks.

The first game was a close one, as Augsburg had the game tied at 16-16 before Bethel began to pull away. Stoneberg had five kills in the game, three coming in the final 10 points for the Royals.

Augsburg took an 11-8 lead in the second game, but a 7-2 scoring run by Bethel took away the lead and gave the Royals the lead for good. Angie Frenell had five kills and two blocks in the second game for the Royals, with Rosenvold adding four kills and a block.

Linnea Evans (So., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) had six kills and seven digs in the second game for the Auggies, with Britt Bogner (So., Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) adding five kills.

Bethel ran away with the third game early, outscoring the Auggies 20-9. Rosenvold had four kills in the run, including a stretch of three in a row. Stoneberg had six kills, hitting .750 (eight attempts) in the third game. Meanwhile, Augsburg had just four kills in the third game, hitting .000 (four kills and four errors in 35 attempts).

Frenell had six kills and three blocks for the Royals, with Kimmie Moehring collecting six kills and 10 blocks. Katie Snyder led the Royals with 36 assists, 15 digs and six service aces. Jill Thorvig had 14 digs.

Augsburg was paced by Evans, who had 12 kills and 14 digs for her fourth kill-dig "double-double" of the season. Kristy Larson (Jr., Pine Island, Minn.) had six kills and a block, while Bogner had five kills, 12 digs and two blocks.

Elsie Ginsberg (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) had four kills, nine digs and two blocks, and Billie Painschab (So., Howard Lake, Minn./Howard Lake-Waverly HS) had four kills and three blocks. Alexis Johnson (So., Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) had 29 assists and 14 digs for the Auggies.

Augsburg is in action this weekend at the Wisconsin-La Crosse Halloween Classic. Augsburg will play Wartburg (Iowa) on Friday (10/24) at 3:30 p.m. and Buena Vista (Iowa) on Friday at 7:30 p.m., then face host Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday (10/25) at 10 a.m., finishing with a match against Loras (Iowa) on Saturday at 12 noon.
