Men's Soccer 10/25/03 -- Augsburg 3, Wisconsin-Superior 2

SUPERIOR, Wis. (10/25/03) --
Aaron Riedel (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) scored two goals in the second half, and
Mike Elcano (Jr., Sparks, Nev./Bishop Manogue HS) added the game-winner from
Clarke Athman (Jr., St. Joseph, Minn.) with five minutes remaining, as Augsburg College claimed a 3-2, come-from-behind victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a nonconference men's soccer game Saturday at the UWS Soccer Field.
Augsburg broke a 10-game winless streak with the victory, moving to 5-10-2 overall. Wisconsin-Superior ends its season at 6-12-0.
The Auggies gave up two goals in the first half, then scored all three of their goals in the second half.
Riedel scored his first goal in the 60th minute, and added his second goal in the 80th minute to tie the game. Both goals were unassisted. Elcano scored from Athman in the 85th minute for the game-winner.
The goals broke an Augsburg shutout streak of six straight games, which included a scoreless streak of 701 minutes over eight games.
Augsburg outshot Wisconsin-Superior by a 20-12 margin. Augsburg goalkeeper
Lucas Grant (Jr., Starbuck, Minn./Minnewaska Area HS) made two saves for the Auggies.
Josh Kolkind made nine saves for Wisconsin-Superior. J.D. Trangsrud scored the Yellowjackets' first goal, on a feed from Charlie Forsyth, in the 36th minute. Six minutes later, Forsyth scored the second goal for Superior, unassisted.
Augsburg closes its season on Tuesday (10/28) at 2:30 p.m., with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at St. Olaf.
