MINNEAPOLIS (11/21/03) --
Annie Annunziato (Sr., Commack, N.Y.) scored two goals, giving her a 10-point weekend (seven goals, three assists), as Augsburg College claimed a series sweep of Hamline University with a 5-0 victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game Friday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
One night after setting school single-game scoring records with five goals and three assists in a 12-1 win over Hamline on Thursday, Annunziato continued her scoring streak, scoring twice in the second period.
Augsburg won its fourth straight game in improving to 4-1-0 on the season, 2-0-0 in MIAC play. Hamline drops to 0-4-0 on the year, 0-2-0 in MIAC play.
Augsburg outshot Hamline by a 48-7 mark, hitting the 40 mark in shots for the fourth straight game.
Katie Fedoryk (Sr., Austin, Minn.) picked up her second shutout of the season, and sixth of her career, making seven saves in goal for the Auggies.
Genevieve Allegrezza (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska/Service HS) had a goal and assist in the second period for the Auggies, while
Stacy Anderson (Fr., Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina HS) had three assists on the evening and
Carrie Velenchenko (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) added two assists.
Unlike Thursday night, when Augsburg built a 5-0 lead in the first 13 minutes of play, it took Augsburg 13 minutes on Friday to score its first goal, as
Christina Hughes (Sr., Chaska, Minn.) lit the lamp on assists from
Corrie Krzyska (Jr., Fridley, Minn.) and Velenchenko at the 13:27 mark.
Augsburg tied the game 1:03 later, as
Kristin Murr (Fr., Thornton, Colo./Quest Academy HS) scored her fourth goal of the season, on a feed from Anderson.
In the second period, Annunziato scored her first goal of the game at the 7:23 mark, on assists from Anderson and
Melynda Kleewein (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond HS). Allegrezza scored her first goal of the season, on assists from Lauren Chezick (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) and Velenchenko, at the 9:30 mark. Annunziato capped the scoring at the 14:16 mark with a power-play goal, from Anderson and Allegrezza.
Rachael Young (So., Buffalo, Minn.) made 43 saves in a losing effort for Hamline.
Augsburg returns to action on Tuesday (11/25), hosting Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 7:30 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena. Hamline is back in action on Dec. 5, hosting Concordia at 7 p.m. at the State Fair Coliseum.
