FRIDLEY, Minn. (2/1/03) -- David May (So., Burnsville, Minn.) scored two goals, and Collin Nash (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had a goal and two assists, leading Augsburg College to a 4-2 win over Bethel College Saturday night at the Columbia Ice Arena, gaining a split of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey weekend series.

Bethel, after scoring a 5-3 upset over Augsburg on Friday night, drops to 2-18-0 overall and 1-11-0 in MIAC play.

While the penalty kill has been a sore spot for the Auggies so far this season -- giving up three power-play goals on Friday night against Bethel -- Augsburg's power-play proved effective on Saturday. The Auggies converted three power-play goals in eight opportunities, while allowing just one power-play tally.

Nash opened the scoring midway through the first period on a power-play goal, on an assist from Tarik Yumusaklar (Fr., Lakeville, Minn.). Bethel tied the game in the closing seconds of the first, when Kris Birch (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) scored on the power play, on a feed from Chris Carroll (Jr., Roseville, Minn.).

Augsburg took control of the game with three straight goals, two on the power play. Brad Schwartzbauer (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored from Brady Fougner (Fr., International Falls, Minn.) and Chad Moore (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) at the 5:31 mark of the second period, and May scored his first goal of the game on a feed from Nash three minutes later, also on the power play.

May notched his second goal of the game with 2:25 left in the third period, on feeds from Nash and Dave Nelson (Fr., Woodbury, Minn./South St. Paul HS).

Josh Storm (Fr., Lakeville, Minn.) finished the game with a goal for Bethel on a feed from Sean Molin (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) with 37 seconds left.

Tony Ciro (Fr., Spring Lake Park, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) made 33 saves for Bethel. Augsburg outshot Bethel 37-36 in the contest.

Augsburg has one MIAC series remaining this season, a two-gamer against defending conference champion St. Thomas. Friday's (2/7) game is at the Augsburg Ice Arena at 7 p.m., and Saturday's (2/8) game is at the State Fair Coliseum in St. Paul, also at 7 p.m. Bethel faces St. John's in a two-game series. Friday's game is at 7 p.m. at the COlumbia Ice Arena, and Saturday's game is at 2 p.m. at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
