MINNEAPOLIS (9/17/03) -- Outshooting Augsburg College by a 25-7 margin, the Hamline University men's soccer team dominated play en route to a 3-0 triumph in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer game Wednesday night at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field.

Ben Watkins (So., Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial HS) scored in the 10th minute, and Aron Romo (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman HS) and Graham Plumhoff (Sr., Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) scored in a four-minute span early in the second half for Hamline, now 3-3-0 overall and 1-0 in MIAC play.

Augsburg saw its unbeaten streak snapped at five straight games in falling to 4-3-1 overall, 0-1 in MIAC play.

Augsburg had just one shot on goal among its seven shots in the game, with goalkeeper Paul Hajny (So., Hamel, Minn./Delano HS) making a first-half save. He played 78 minutes, with Nick Agranoff (So., Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) playing the final 12 minutes.

Watkins scored on a header from a corner kick by Alex Morawiecki (So., Winona, Minn.) in the 10th minute. Romo scored on a free kick from 40 yards out in the 53rd minute, as Augsburg goalkeeper Lucas Grant (Jr., Starbuck, Minn./Minnewaska Area HS) couldn't handle the long ball, bouncing off his hands and into the net.

Four minutes later, Plumhoff took a feed from Derek Vinge (Jr., Blaine, Minn./Wayzata HS) from 25 yards out and scored his first goal of the season.

Grant made three saves in 62 minutes for Augsburg, with Han Zeller (Sr., Winona, Minn.) making three saves in 28 minutes.

Both teams return to action on Saturday (9/20) at 1 p.m., with Augsburg playing at Bethel in MIAC play, and Hamline playing at Viterbo (Wis.) in a nonconference game.
