WINONA, Minn. (9/27/03) -- Brian Reddish scored two goals, both from assists from Brady Knudsen, to lead St. Mary's University to a 2-0 win over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer match Saturday at Ochrymowycz Field.
Reddish scored his first goal of the game in the 42nd minute, and added his second goal in the 86th minute, as St. Mary's claimed its first victory of the season after seven losses and 656 minutes of scoreless play, improving to 1-7-0 overall and 1-2-0 in MIAC play.
Augsburg saw its winless streak extended to five straight games -- three losses and two ties -- in falling to 4-5-2 overall and 0-3-1 in MIAC play.
St. Mary's outshot Augsburg by a 27-2 margin -- including a 15-0 advantage in the first half. Augsburg managed just one shot on net, while Auggie goalkeeper
Lucas Grant (Jr., Starbuck, Minn./Minnewaska Area HS) faced 20 shots on goal, making 18 saves. Tyler Nelson had to make just one saves to record the shutout victory.
Both teams return to MIAC play on Tuesday (9/30), with Augsburg hosting St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field, and St. Mary's hosting Gustavus at 4 p.m.
