MINNEAPOLIS (9/5/03) --
Millie Suk (So., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored a first-half goal, and
Aili Brom-Palkowski (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) notched her first collegiate goal, leading Augsburg College to a 2-0 win over the College of St. Scholastica in a nonconference women's soccer game Friday afternoon at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field.
Laura Hoffman (Sr., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) made three saves to recorded her 19th career shutout in goal for the victors, as the Auggies improved to 3-0 on the season. All three wins for Augsburg have been by shutout this season.
St. Scholastica drops to 0-2-1 on the season.
Suk notched her second goal of the season, and 14th of her two-year career, in the 34th minute. She received a feed from
Emily Anderson (Fr., Eau Claire, Wis.) and chipped a shot over the head of St. Scholastica goalkeeper Kristin Lammi (So., Duluth, Minn./Denfeld HS) for the first tally of the game.
Brom-Palkowski followed in the second half, redirecting a corner kick from
Heidi Hilleren (Sr., Duluth, Minn./East HS) into the net in the 55th minute.
Augsburg outshot St. Scholastica by a 21-6 margin. Lammi made two saves and allowed two goals in a losing effort.
Hoffman's 19 career shutouts are second in school history to Beth Petrik, who had 26 from 1995-98.
Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday (9/9) at 7:30 p.m., hosting Macalester in a key game at Edor Nelson Field. St. Scholastica returns to action on Saturday (9/6), hosting St. Norbert (Wis.) at 3:30 p.m.
