Anderson nets 3 power-play goals for first collegiate hat trick, Bockmann nets first collegiate shutout, Auggies blank Finlandia

MINNEAPOLIS (11/12/04) -- Stacy Anderson (So., Lafayette, Calif./Marina HS) claimed her first collegiate hat trick with three power-play goals, and Amanda Bockmann (Fr., Wind Lake, Wis./Muskego HS) made 27 saves for her first collegiate shutout, as Augsburg College cruised to a 7-0 win over Finlandia University (Mich.) in a nonconference women's hockey game on Friday evening at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Jenny Schmidt (Fr., North St. Paul, Minn.) added two goals for the Auggies, now 1-0-2 on the season. Anderson added an assist for a four-point night.

Finlandia, a first-year program in just its third collegiate women's hockey game, is now 0-3 on the season. The teams complete the nonconference series on Saturday (11/13) at 2:05 p.m. at Augsburg.

Jocelyn Cookson (Jr., Edina, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) had a goal and an assist, and Lauren Chezick (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) and Brittney LeBlanc (Fr., Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) had two assits apiece for the Auggies.

Chezick now has four points on the season, edging closer to Augsburg's career scoring record. She now has 117 career points (48 goals, 69 assists), just three points behind the all-time scoring record of 120, set by Angie Rieger from 1997-2001 (68 goals, 52 assists).

Augsburg outshot Finlandia by a 40-27 margin, including a 13-8 edge in the first period as the Auggies built a 3-0 lead. Anderson scored her first goal on the power play at the 9:59 mark, with Katie Medd (Fr., Mankato, Minn./East HS) adding her first collegiate goal at the 12:48 mark and Cookson scoring at the 18:00 mark.

Bockmann is now 1-0-1 on the season, starting two of Augsburg's three games this season.

Alexa Watkins (So., Harper Woods, Mich.) started in goal for Finlandia and made 11 saves before being replaced in the second period by Katie Markovich (So., Southgate, Mich.), who made 22 saves in relief.
