League-leading St. Thomas overcame two deficits in the first two periods to score the win, improving to 12-5-3 overall and 10-0-1 in the MIAC. After starting the season out 0-4, St. Thomas has lost just once in its last 16 games (12-1-3). St. Thomas has won its last four games in a row and has a nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1).

Augsburg dropped to 7-10-4 overall, 5-5-3 in MIAC play with the loss, snapping a four-game unbeaten streak and two-game winning streak.

After Augsburg built a 2-1 lead on a first-period goal from Brett Osness (So., Calgary, Alberta/Springbrook HS) and Joe Haehn's (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) first collegiate goal in the second period, the Tommies took the lead back with two goals in the final 5:19 of the second frame, on Lick's team-high 19th goal of the season and Wilcox's second goal of the period with 42 seconds left.

Augsburg tied the game again at the 3:21 mark of the third period, as Ben Sandvik (So., Rochester, Minn./Century HS) claimed his first collegiate goal. But Augsburg's tie was short-lived, as the Tommies scored two goals in a 17-second span to put the game away. Anthony Blumer (Jr., Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy HS) scored his 10th goal of the year at the 8:38 mark, and Joe Krmpotich (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) followed with a goal at the 8:55 mark.

St. Thomas outshot Augsburg by an 11-3 margin in the first period, but Augsburg outshot the Tommies 22-14 after that, squaring the shots-on-goal totals at 25 apiece. Erik Young (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) made 20 saves for the Auggies, while Zach Sikich (Jr., Eveleth, Minn.) made 20 saves for the Tommies. He was pulled from the game after drawing a delay-of-game penalty, and Jeremy Earl (So., Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) made two saves in the final 4:31.

Osness led the Auggies with a two-point night, adding an assist on Haehn's second-period goal. Dan Krmpotich (So., Eden Prairie, Minn.) had two assists for the Tommies.

The teams finish the key MIAC series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the new UST/St. Thomas Academy ice arena in Mendota Heights.
