BOXSCORE

ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/26/05) -- Laura Prasek (Sr., Fridley, Minn.) scored the lone goal of the game on a blast from the point off a successful draw from Corrie Krzyska (Sr., Buffalo, Minn./Fridley HS), as Augsburg College finished its regular season with a 1-0 win and a sweep of Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game Saturday afternoon at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum.

After a scoreless first two-and-a-half periods, Augsburg broke the draw off a faceoff in the Hamline zone. Krzyska took the draw and fed it back to Prasek, who fired the puck through a screen and past Hamline goalie Rachael Young (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.), on Augsburg's 39th of its 41 shots in the game.

Augsburg finishes its regular season at 13-9-3 overall, 10-7-1 in MIAC play, while Hamline finishes its season at 4-19-1 overall, 3-14-1 in MIAC play, losing its sixth straight game.

As the No. 4 seed in the five-team MIAC playoffs, Augsburg will host the "play-in" game against St. Mary's (10-12-3 overall, 7-8-3 MIAC) on Tuesday (3/1) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena. Augsburg qualified for the MIAC postseason playoffs for the third straight season and fifth time in the seven seasons the MIAC has sponsored a women's hockey playoff.

It will be the third straight season that Augsburg and St. Mary's have met in the "play-in" game between the fourth and fifth seeds. St. Mary's won 2-1 in the 2003 meeting at Bielenberg Arena in Woodbury, Minn., and Augsburg won 2-1 in the 2004 first-round game at St. Mary's.

Augsburg outshot Hamline by a 41-12 margin in Saturday's regular-season finale, including a 21-2 advantage in the second period and 16-5 edge in the third period. However, Hamline's Young was equal to the task on virtually every Augsburg shot, making 40 saves.

In the weekend sweep, Augsburg outshot Hamline by an 86-31 margin, with Young coming up with 79 saves.

Augsburg used three goalies in Saturday's game. Amanda Bockmann (Fr., Wind Lake, Wis./Muskego HS) started and played the first period, making five saves; Jena Kleis (Fr., Hastings, Minn.) played the second period and stopped both shots she faced; and Lexi Cismesia (Fr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East HS) made her season debut in the third period and earned her first collegiate victory, stopping all five shots she faced.
