ST. CLOUD, Minn. (2/28/04) -- Kevin Willey (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) scored two second-period goals, and goalie Adam Hanna (So., Owatonna, Minn.) claimed his third straight shutout, extending his scoreless streak to 197:58, as St. John's University scored its second straight 4-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey victory over Augsburg College on Saturday afternoon at the National Hockey Center.
The MIAC regular-season champion Johnnies, ranked No. 4 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online (www.uscho.com) Division III national poll, closed the regular season with their school-record 15th victory in a row in improving to 21-3-1 overall, 15-1-0 in MIAC play.
Augsburg finished its season at 8-13-4 overall and 5-8-3 in MIAC play, losing its fourth game in its final five starts. Augsburg finished in sixth place in the MIAC, one spot out of the five-team MIAC postseason playoffs.
St. John's dominated play, claiming a 53-16 advantage in shots on goal. Augsburg alternated goalies in the game, with
David Nash (So., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) starting and making 19 saves, and
Erik Young (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) making 30 saves.
Brady Lundblad (Jr., Centerville, Minn./Centennial HS) and Aaron Getchell (So., Corcoran, Minn./Maple Grove HS) also scored goals for the Johnnies.
