LA CROSSE, Wis. (9/17/04) -- Scoring three goals in a 12-minute span in the first half, Augsburg College pulled away and cruised to a 4-0 victory over host Viterbo University in a nonconference men's soccer game on Friday afternoon.

Auggie Lucas Grant (Sr., Starbuck, Minn./Minnewaska HS) picked up his third shutout of the season, making four saves, as Augsburg improved to 3-2-1 on the season. Viterbo is now 1-4.

Mark Cohn (Fr., Anoka, Minn./Blaine HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies on a goal from Noah Turner (So., Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) in the 17th minute. Six minutes later, Mike Elcano (Sr., Sparks, Nev./Bishop Manogue HS) scored from Aaron Riedel (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS). Six minutes later, Ben Simonet (Fr., Stillwater, Minn.) scored his third goal of the season, from Vinnie Brooks (So., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS).

Elcano completed the scoring for the Auggies with a goal in the 74th minute, on an assist from Justin Turner (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS).

Augsburg completes its weekend road trip on Saturday (9/18) at 3 p.m., with a game at Coe (Iowa) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
