St. Benedict scores 93-50 home victory over Augsburg.

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (1/17/05) -- Wing Judy Falvey (Fr., Lakeville, Minn.) came off the bench to score a game-high 15 points and helped the College of St. Benedict to a 93-50 rout of visiting Augsburg in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Monday night at Claire Lynch Hall.

Monday's win is the seventh consecutive for St. Benedict, which improved to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in MIAC play. The Auggies fell to 0-13 overall, 0-10 in MIAC play.

The Auggies stayed with the Blazers for the first few minutes of the game, but it didn't take long for CSB to break away for good. St. Benedict took a commanding 47-26 lead into halftime.

In the second half, CSB continued to increase its lead to as many as 44 points, en route to the 93-50 victory. Justine Richels (Jr., Breckenridge, Minn.) added 11 points for the Blazers, while Anna Heikenen (Jr., Edina, Minn.) netted 10. Kim Johnson (Sr., Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored six points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Johnson needs 16 more points to reach 1,000 for her career.

The Blazers shot 40 percent from the field, while holding Augsburg to 35 percent shooting for the game. St. Benedict dominated the boards and had a 56-40 rebound advantage. St. Benedict also forced 30 Augsburg turnovers while committing just 14, converting 25 points off turnovers compared to Augsburg's two.

No Augsburg player scored in double figures. Katie Kelsey (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) and Hannah Bratzel (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Christ Household of Faith HS) had eight points apiece. Katie LaGrave (Fr., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) had seven points and two steals, and Alissa Blood (So., Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) had a team-high nine rebounds and four assists.

The Blazers will hit the road for their next four conference games beginning with Gustavus on Wednesday (1/19) at 7:30 p.m.

Augsburg's scheduled game at Macalester has been cancelled, due to Macalester cancelling its season. Augsburg will return to action on Saturday (1/22) at 1 p.m., hosting St. Olaf at Si Melby Hall.
