MINNEAPOLIS (1/19/05) -- Andy Grimsrud (Sr., Zumbrota, Minn.) had 15 points and Chad Norberg (Fr., Northfield, Minn.) 13 in the St. Olaf College men's basketball team's 83-74 win over Augsburg College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday in Northfield.
St. Olaf improves to 7-9 overall, 3-8 in MIAC play, while Augsburg falls to 7-9 overall, 5-6 in MIAC play, dropping its fifth game in its last seven.
Grimsrud's three three-point buckets in the last minutes of the first half helped the Oles to a 41-34 lead at the break.
The St. Olaf win, which snapped a six-game skid, offset a 32-point, nine-rebound effort by Augsburg's
Lucas Olson-Patterson (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS). Olson-Patterson scored in double-figures for the 15th time this season and extended his double-figure scoring streak to 23 straight games, dating back to last year. Olson-Patterson has scored in double-figures in 35 of his 38 Augsburg games.
Augsburg closed regulation with a 10-2 run to send the game to overtime.
The Oles outscored the Auggies 43-16 in bench scoring. Norberg was 5-of-6 from the field and Grimsrud 4-for-6 in the win.
Mark Bergstrom (So., Woodbury, Minn.) added 11 and Jon Bain (So., Austin, Minn.) 10 points for St. Olaf.
Charlie Scott (So., Ely, Minn.) chipped in 14 for Augsburg, with
Kevin Keto (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) and
Devin Rose (Fr., Granton, Wis.) contributing seven points each.
Both teams are in action with home games on Wednesday (1/26) at 7:30 p.m. St. Olaf plays host to St. John's, while Augsburg hosts St. Mary's.
