St. Mary's pulls away in second half, scores 74-62 win over Augsburg.

WINONA, Minn. (1/26/05) -- Jamie Rattunde went 8-for-9 from the field and scored 22 points with five steals and four rebounds, leading St. Mary's University to a 74-62 win over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at the St. Mary's gym.

Ashley Luehmann scored 17 points with six rebounds and five assists, and Angie Arrington scored 13 points with five rebounds for the Cardinals, now 12-4 overall and 8-4 in MIAC play.

Kristina Lurken (Fr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) had 12 points and Katie Kelsey (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) had 11 points for the Auggies, now 1-14 overall, 1-1 in MIAC play.

The Auggies kept the game close early, and led 19-18 with 12:06 left in the first half. But an 8-2 run in a three-minute span late in the first half gave the Cardinals a 32-25 lead, and the hosts would not trail after that. St. Mary's led 36-31 at halftime and pulled away to lead by as many as 20 points on three separate occasions, before Augsburg trimmed the lead to 12 at the end.

Fifteen Cardinals saw action in the game, and nine players scored. April Johnson had seven points off the bench, while Ashley Fosmo had six points.

Augsburg shot 47.2 percent (25-of-53) from the field, but were limited to 3-of-10 from three-point range. Augsburg committed 31 turnovers, the fifth time this season the Auggies have committed 30 or more turnovers. Meanwhile, St. Mary's hit 41.8 percent (28-of-67) from the field and connected on six 3-pointers.

Katie LaGrave (Fr., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) scored seven points, while Hannah Bratzel (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Christ Household of Faith HS), Rachel Cherry (Jr., Rosemount, Minn.), Missy Larson (Jr., Pine Island, Minn.) and Alissa Blood (So., Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored six points each, with Bratzel adding five rebounds and Cherry adding four steals. Rosinta Stromquist (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) led all players with seven rebounds.

Augsburg returns to MIAC action on Saturday (1/29), hosting Bethel at 1 p.m. at Si Melby Hall. St. Mary's plays at Concordia-Moorhead on Sunday (1/30) at 1 p.m.
