Magnuson scores twice, Augsburg shuts out Hamline 2-0

MINNEAPOLIS (11/19/05) -- Tiffany Magnuson (Fr., Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) scored twice and Amanda Bockmann (So., Wind Lake, Wis./Muskego HS) recorded nine saves for her second collegiate shutout, leading Augsburg College to a 2-0 win over Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game Saturday afternoon at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Magnuson scored at the 16:54 mark of the second period on an assist from Jenny Schmidt (So., North St. Paul, Minn.), then added an unassisted, power-play goal at the 5:41 mark of the second period for the Auggies, now 1-3-1 overall, 1-0-1 in MIAC play. Magnuson had three goals and an assist in the weekend series with the Pipers.

Hamline was led by the play of Crystal Testolin (Fr., Richardson, Texas/Plano East HS), making her first collegiate start in goal. She made 34 saves for the Pipers, now 1-1-2 overall, 0-1-1 in MIAC play.

Augsburg outshot Hamline by a 36-9 margin, including a 15-2 advantage in the third period

Augsburg will return to action with a nonconference game against Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Tuesday (11/22) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena. Hamline competes at the Concordia-Moorhead Tournament next weekend, starting on Friday (11/25) at 3 p.m., with a game against Lake Forest (Ill.).
