RIVER FALLS, Wis. (11/5/05) -- Jenna Scanlon scored the game-winning goal with 17 seconds left in regulation time, leading the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to a 2-1 victory over Augsburg College in a nonconference women's hockey game Saturday afternoon at Hunt Arena.
Scanlon scored on assists from Kacie Anderson and Sarah Halseth in the closing seconds, lifting Wisconsin-River Falls to 2-0-0 overall. It was the first game for Augsburg this season.
All the scoring took place in the third period. Sarah Halseth scored from Jennifer Wallace for the Falcons at the 3:55 mark, but Augsburg tied the game at the 16:46 mark, as
Jackie Keller (So., Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) scored from
Katie Johnson (So., Montrose, Minn./Wayzata HS).
Wisconsin-River Falls outshot Augsburg by a 25-12 margin, including a 15-5 advantage in the third period.
Amanda Bockmann (So., Wind Lake, Wis./Muskego HS) made 23 saves for the Auggies, while Amber Lindner made 11 saves for Wisconsin-River Falls.
Augsburg returns to action with a two-game series at Lake Forest (Ill.) next weekend. Saturday's (11/12) game is at 7 p.m., and Sunday's (11/13) game is at 2 p.m. Wisconsin-River Falls plays at St. Thomas on Friday (11/11) at 7 p.m.
