NORTHFIELD, Minn. (2/5/05) -- Lindsay Boeser's (Fr., Burnsville, Minn./Lakeville HS) shorthanded goal in the final minutes of the second period proved to be the game-winner, as St. Olaf College held off Augsburg College 3-2 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game at Northfield Ice Arena Saturday night.
With the win to complete the series sweep, the Oles are three points ahead of the Auggies for sole possession of third place in the MIAC standings, now two points behind St. Thomas for second. St. Olaf is now 10-5-1 overall and 8-3-1 in MIAC play, winning its fourth straight game. Augsburg dropped to 10-7-2 overall, 7-5-0 in MIAC play.

Laura Prasek (Sr., Fridley, Minn.) scored midway through the third period to bring the Auggies within a goal, scoring from
Katie Medd (Fr., Mankato, Minn./East HS).
St. Olaf scored three straight after defender
Jackie Keller (Fr., Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) scored her first collegiate goal for Augsburg, just 5:32 into the game, on an assist from Melynda Kleewein (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond HS).
Brit Schultheis (Sr., Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) tied the game 1-1 with just over four minutes left in the first and Katie Bennett's (Fr., Edina, Minn.) goal at the 3:08 mark in the second gave the Oles a 2-1 lead.
Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 35-18 margin in the game. Andrea Smith (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) picked up the win for the Oles, making 33 saves.
Jena Kleis (Fr., Hastings, Minn.) made 15 saves in a losing effort.
Both teams return to MIAC action next weekend. Augsburg faces St. Thomas, with Friday's (2/11) game at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena and Saturday's (2/12) game at 2 p.m. at the St. Thomas Arena in Mendota Heights. St. Olaf is in action with a series against St. Mary's, wtih Friday's game at 7 p.m. in Northfield and Saturday's gmae at 2 p.m. in Winona.
