Augsburg falls at home to Northwestern-Roseville, 3-1.

MINNEAPOLIS (9/16/05) -- Adam Gill (Fr., Curtiba, Brazil) had a goal and assist, and Mark Beck (Jr., Woodbury, Minn./Backholm HS) made nine saves in goal, leading Northwestern College-Roseville to a 3-1 victory over host Augsburg College in a nonconference men's soccer game Friday night at Edor Nelson Field.

Trevor Perkins (Sr., Bowdoinham, Maine/Cheverus HS) and Aaron Thelen (Fr., Brainerd, Minn.) added goals for the Eagles, who improved to 2-3-0 on the season.

Augsburg's lone goal came from Mark Cohn (So., Anoka, Minn./Blaine HS), as the Auggies dropped to 1-5-0 on the season, losing their third game in a row.

Augsburg outshot Northwestern by a 25-16 margin and held a 12-1 advantage on corner kicks, but Beck stopped nine of Augsburg's 10 shots on goal in the contest.

Perkins put the Eagles on the board first, as he took a long pass from Mark Messerli (Sr., Rhinelander, Wis.), worked forward and fired a shot across the goal crease to the far corner, past Augsburg goalkeeper Evan Fuhs (Fr., Woodbury, Minn.) in the 61st minute.

Nine minutes later, Thelen completed a three-way passing play from Gill and Philip Lodien (Fr., Kalispell, Mont./Stillwater Christian HS) to score the Eagles' second goal of the game.

Augsburg's Cohn scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 74th minute, with an assist to Andrew Seidel (Fr., Woodbury, Minn.), cutting the advantage to 2-1.

But Gill clinched the win for the visitors in the 88th minute, getting a pass from across the penalty box from Samuel Reyes (Fr., Christian Academy Guatemala) and flicking a shot past Fuhs. Gill ended up with five shots in the game for the Eagles.

Fuhs had six saves for the Auggies. Cohn had eight shots for Augsburg.

Augsburg returns to nonconference action on Saturday (9/17) at 4 p.m., with a game at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minn. Northwestern returns to nonconference action on Tuesday (9/20) at 4 p.m., hosting the University of St. Thomas.
