MINNEAPOLIS (9/20/05) -- Lindsay Sipma (Jr., Dickinson, N.D.) led all players with 12 kills and six blocks, guiding Concordia College-Moorhead to a three-game sweep of Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday night at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.
Sipma hit .579, with just one error in 19 attack attempts for the Cobbers, now 10-1 overall, 1-1 in MIAC play. Mackenzie Close (Sr., West Fargo, N.D.) also had a strong hitting night for Concordia, with eight kills and a .583 attack percentage (one error in 12 attempts), to go with five blocks.
Beckie Jackson (Fr., Winthrop, Minn./Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop HS) had nine kills and eight digs for Augsburg, now 2-13 overall, 0-2 in MIAC play. Augsburg has lost its last seven matches in a row.
Concordia hit .300 as a team, with 48 kills and just 15 attack errors in 110 attempts. The Cobbers also took advantage of 10 team blocks to sweep the match in just one hour, 13 minutes. Fourteen Cobbers saw action in the match.
Becca Shane (Jr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) had nine kills, three blocks and two service aces, while Danielle Norby (Fr., Windom, Minn.) had eight kills and five digs, and Michelle Honek (So., Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley HS) had seven kills and seven digs.
Sipma had six kills and no errors in nine attacks in the first game, as the Cobbers rallied from an early 13-8 deficit with an 11-2 scoring run to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Close had six kills to lead the Cobbers in the second game. Concordia hit .472 as a team in the second game, with just one error and 18 kills in 36 attack attempts. Concordia took advantage of 14 Augsburg attack errors in the third game.
Augsburg hit just .060 in the match, with 35 kills and 28 errors in 117 attempts.
Jill Hance (Fr., Hopkins, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret HS) had 24 assists and seven digs for the Cobbers, while Alyssa Dahl (Fr., Willmar, Minn.) had 12 assists. Anna Walden (Jr., Hawley, Minn.) had 13 digs.

Dani Boner (Fr., Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) and
Linnea Evans * (Sr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) had six kills apiece, with Evans adding 16 assists and four digs.
Billie Painschab * (Sr., Howard Lake, Minn./Howard Lake-Waverly HS) contributed five kills and two blocks.
Alexis Johnson (Sr., Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) had 13 assists and seven digs for the Auggies, with
Haley Bower (So., Brainerd, Minn.) adding 11 digs.
Both teams return to MIAC action on Friday (9/23) at 7 p.m. with road matches, as Augsburg plays at Gustavus and Concordia plays at Carleton.
